Exams are rapidly approaching for Western and Fanshawe students. Tensions are high and there are lots that need to be done. However, it’s important to keep in mind the importance of self-care and your mental health during this stressful time. There are many resources available on campus to help you stay as calm and collected as you can. Niki Ross from counselling and accessibilities wants students to know what resources are available for them.
“Here at Fanshawe, we have counselling and accessibility services available. So we have regular counselling appointments available for students to book ahead of time.” She also goes on to say that the Fanshawe Student Union runs events specifically related to reducing stress for students. The most recent example being the FSU Chill Lounge.
Ross further explains.
“The past couple of years those have been running, usually close to exam time, and really they are intended to be an event where students can participate in activities that just do help with either managing stress or providing some tools to take away to de-stress later.”
Some activities include massages, therapy dogs, a petting zoo, painting, puzzles and games.
Ross also says she has some advice for students “ It’s really important for students to try really hard to prioritize their self-care.” She says that staying physically active and eating healthy is very important to keep in mind during this time of year.
