Fanshawe college is home to many international students during the school year. Why is it what makes Fanshawe such a welcoming place especially since London isn’t the biggest city in Ontario but it’s still a good size for students to still get that city feel. It is also Fanshawe does many things and has many events throughout the year for the international students and for all of there students. Fanshawe has 21,000 full time students and 6,500 of them are international students from 100 different countries, so a good chunk of the students is from other countries.
How is that Fanshawe gets so many students from other countries to come to London to choose their college over all the other schools in Ontario. Sue McKittrick who is the communications and recruitment coordinator for international students at Fanshawe College explained that Fanshawe has one of the best recruiting teams out of many of the colleges.
McKittrick says, “We have a team in India, we have a team in China, we have a recruiter that lives in Turkey, and he works on Turkey and all of Africa, we have another one that lives in Russia and covers Europe, we have a recruiter in Korea that covers Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines, and a part timer that covers the islands, Bahamas, and Barbados.”
Kevin Masterson the events and activities manager at Fanshawe College says, “We are the number 1 rated school as far as international experience for our students. Were number 1 rated as far as student experience for all of our students but internationally as well so it’s something we take a lot of pride in.”
Fanshawe clearly does an amazing job recruiting and getting international students to come here, when they are here what are some things they can do? Fanshawe holds many events weekly for students and some specifically for their international students. This year their was an international student themed orientation concert to start the year off. Other events Fanshawe has for there students is a Desi night, they have a Bollywood night and many more things for each culture throughout the year so they can get a little feel of home.
