The Huff n’ Puff Seniors Fitness Association was formed in London, Ontario in July of 1988 by a few seniors who had been involved in casual ice skating, pick-up hockey, baseball and five-pin bowling since 1985. They now have over 1,800 members and 34 activities to participate in.
The local senior’s hockey league is back on the ice. Over the pandemic, the league lost ice time and now they are making up for it. Eric Bender, 84 who is part of the senior hockey league, is thrilled to be back. He said it’s not just the physical activity that keeps me living, it’s the walks of life that fill the arena.
“It’s the camaraderie. You meet people from all kinds of disciplines and life. But here we have everybody from janitors to heart transplant surgeons playing in this league. You hear the life experiences of some of them and we joke, and I have a lot of fun.”
