The Museum London has officially reopened its doors featuring several new exhibitions for audiences to experience and admire.
It would not be summer without taking a stroll through the museum, and admiring all the stories it has to share and offer. Museum London has been eagerly awaiting audiences to view its newest exhibitions including The Drive, that focuses on the work of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven as a piece that reflects on the relation of diverse Indigenous and Canadian artists to highlight the complexity of representation for landscapes with a particular focus and respect to the history of resource development. Celebrated photographer Edward Burtynsky’s work can also be admired through the No Small Terror exhibition, along with multidisciplinary visual artist Anna Binta Diallo’s Wanderings exhibition.

Museum London Executive Director Brian Meehan shares in the excitement of audiences eager to experience the new exhibitions “There’s been a lot of people saying how much they miss coming in, and how much they look forward to getting back in, seeing the new exhibitions and possibly taking in the restaurant as well”. With the largest exhibition being The Drive, the Museum London has paired up Thomson and the Group of Seven to be experienced as a conversation between the two.
“We’ve got a couple other really great exhibitions opening as well. A very interesting installation piece in the atrium space of the museum, and also an exhibition of large scale photographs by Edward Burtynsky- probably one of Canada’s best well-known photographers. Anybody interested in photography would really be interested in that exhibition.”
Although the Museum may not yet be able to offer classes or programs for the summer due to the pandemic, an alternative has been gatherings in downtown London every Saturday for walks with each other at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m “They are proving to be very popular, they’ve been sold out up until now, and I think they will continue to sell out.”

“This reopening has been easier for us, I think the reopening will go very smooth” shares Meehan, as protocols and changes to adjust accordingly with Covid-19 safety guidelines than last year. In keeping protocols for protecting the public, masks will be mandatory to wear and contact tracing with a sign in is kept to ensure safety of guests in addition to sanitization and social distancing.
