An 8-year-old girl has died after a deadly crash at Riverside and Wonderland Tuesday night.
8 people were taken to hospital, with ages ranging from 6 to about 30. The collision took place at approximately 6:45 p.m. and emergency services arrived, shut down the road, and investigated.
Now, the morning after the crash, the road is open and the debris is clear. The only evidence of what happened is faint tire marks on the road and tracks through the snow heading towards a tree.
Constable Sandasha Bough gave a media briefing the following morning. She called this crash a tragedy, as a tear came from her eye.
Speculation on social media was suggesting this was an intentional attack, though Constable Sandasha Bough debunked those rumours.
When word came out that someone at the scene went into cardiac arrest, the prevailing theory was that the driver had a heart attack and collided with the pedestrians. Again, Constable Bough denied those rumours.
She confirmed the driver did not have a heart attack, though wouldn’t say whether or not a medical condition was a factor.
Police are still investigating– though they can confirm that the driver was a 76-year old woman. More over, their investigation is suggesting that a 2nd vehicle was also involved. No charges have been laid as of yet.
Police are asking anyone who was involved in an accident at that area, during that time, to come forward with any information they have.
