Community Integration Through Co-Operative Education program (CICE) handed out candy grams to students in the hallway of Fanshawe college. The candies had a note of kindness tied with them followed by a sticker that says “Always Be Kind”. Students from the CICE program were excited to be in person this year and to brighten up the students day at Fanshawe.
Program coordinator of CICE Robin Frikovic supplied Donation boxes to leave candy in D3018 and A2036 rooms. She started the donations after Halloween in hopes of staff, students, and professors to drop off any leftover candy. “Focus on resilience as one of the pillars at Fanshawe college. We have learned that giving to others is one way to increase your own resilience and kindness of course, helps increase everyone else’s resilience.” Frikovic said.
Staff, professors, and students lit up with smiles of surprise while students from the CICE program walked around the halls of Fanshawe college handing out the grams. “I think there’s a lot of negativities in the world right now, and it’s Bringing light to being kind around anybody no matter who they are”. One of the students from the CICE program said.
The candy grams turned out to be a big success. Students were walking around the hallways of Fanshawe with big smiles and showing off their kindness stickers with pride. One small act of kindness shows how big of a positive impact it can have on someone’s life.
