H.B Beal’s art program is hosting an art exhibition called catching stride.
Beal students have not had the opportunity to host an exhibit since the onset of the pandemic, and the students wanted that to be of their theme. According to Kodey Lippincott a student and artist “The whole show, has been set up, organized and run by Beal art specialists… Catching Stride became a collaboration that (encompassed) the past few years of isolation.”
The exhibit is filled with different types of student art, from online interactive pieces, to sculptures, and paintings.
Catching Stride has an encompassing theme, but every artist had their own unique perspective or what art is to them.
Keon Martin is the student and artist with the most work in Catching Stride. “Traditionally I used to do bright stuff and started focusing more on the robots once this year started. It speaks to a lot of different things, but I’m more so interested in the beauty of decay, and the poetry of machines returning to nature and the materials returning to their source nature.” Martin said
The exhibit is being held at the non-profit Tap Center for Creativity.
Tap’s Executive Director Sandra De Salvo noted the different energy the students bring to the gallery.
“The biggest part is that the students are so involved in the process. They’re involved in everything, the planning of (the exhibit), planning of the way the exhibit looks, where things are going to go. They’re involved in all aspects of supporting each other. They’re excited.” Said De Salvo
Catching Stride is live until Saturday, January 28.
