Fanshawe College’s Clubs Day was a vibrant event that united students to explore campus involvement. This year featured 30 active clubs and 5 to 10 more in preparation, a sharp rise from 10 to 12 clubs last year. Event coordinator Jerry Thompson attributed the success to improved promotion. “We worked hard to ensure stronger promotion this year. “With almost 40 clubs in the pipeline and 30 already active, students have a lot of options to explore.”
The clubs cover a wide range of interests, including professional networking, hobbies, religious groups, and academic associations like the Accounting and Finance clubs. Thompson notes that these clubs are important for student life and host events almost every day. “These clubs are the backbone of student life, hosting at least one or two events every day,” he said. “That’s about 30 events per month, with each event drawing 10 to 15 participants. The sense of community and connection is palpable.” Some of the most popular clubs, including the Rotaract Club, Spectrum, and the Anime Club, each have over 100 members”
Students who attended the event expressed their excitement and shared their positive impressions. One student, dressed in a banana costume, was particularly enthusiastic about the chance to connect with others and find new interests. “This event is amazing! It’s helping me explore all the clubs Fanshawe offers and figure out where I can contribute and connect. The sense of community here is incredible. Fanshawe is about more than academics it’s about feeling at home.”
A student was grateful for the chance to explore the various clubs available at the college. “I think it’s a great way to learn about the various communities within the college. There’s something for everyone, from engineering to cultural clubs. I’m still deciding which one to join, but I’m excited about the options.”
Clubs Day was a celebration of our community, reminding students of the ways they can connect, grow, and feel at home at Fanshawe.
