With spring officially here, many Londoners are gearing up to switch their tires for the season. As the temperatures rise and winter weather fades, it’s the perfect time to get ready for safer driving.
XFM News spoke with Rick McMullin, owner of Ricky Ratchet Auto Shop and mechanic, who noted he’s already seeing a steady stream of customers.
“We’ve already started seeing a trickle of cars coming in. The people who don’t drive much — retirees or those who use their cars locally and aren’t on the highway — are already coming in saying, ‘Hey, we’re ready to have our tires switched,’” McMullin said.
McMullin added that after April 1, he expects a steady flow of customers.
“There’s not as much of a panic in the spring as there is in the fall. You’ll get that last-minute rush, especially if the snow hits and we get some deep snow. That’s when you’ll see a lot of people saying, ‘Okay, it’s time to put on the snow tires.’ The fall is the real panic,” McMullin explained.
McMullin also mentioned that along with tire changes, customers will be looking for other seasonal services for their vehicles.
“You’re going to see a bunch of related services that people need to have ready for the season. Summer vacationers will be switching to summer tires in April, May, and June, and getting ready for road trips in July and August. Those customers will likely get another oil change before they head out,” McMullin said.
As spring settles in, Londoners are getting their vehicles ready for the season. While the rush for tire changes isn’t as intense as in the fall, many are already preparing for warmer weather and upcoming road trips.
With a steady stream of customers expected in the coming weeks, local auto shops are staying busy with tire changes and other seasonal services to ensure drivers are safe on the road as temperatures rise.
