The London knights have had a phenomenal run so far in the playoffs, not losing a single game to the Owen Sound Attack, on top of already having a great season the London knights are on track to the Memorial Cup, but this begs the question of if we will have a repeat of last year’s Memorial Cup run. Last year, the London Knights lost to the Saginaw Spirit by one goal, a loss Londoners have not forgotten and are hoping for redemption. So, how will the London Knights try not to repeat last year’s loss? Mike Stubbs play-by-play host says “Maybe something that is even more special about this particular season is you got guys who have grown up together, core players who have been together for 3 years, for 4 years and now they get one last chance a lot of them before they graduate to professional hockey to try to get back to that memorial cup final and to try and have a different outcome”. Whatever strategy the London Knights have been using seems to be working, considering they are unbeaten currently in the playoffs, advancing to the second round, facing off against their bitter rivals, the Erie Otters, the otters themselves are also in good standing after the First round only losing one game to the Saginaw Spirits.
With The Knights recent success how are fans reacting to our hometown team is attendance up or is there more interest Mike Stubbs says “they always like to say they have the best fans in the Canadian hockey league and one of the things that shows that’s true is that they sell out every game so you can’t fit more fans into the building and in terms of fans on the road, I mean we were in Owen sound for 2 games, you had a fan bus coming up each game, on a school night.”
With the second round of the playoffs starting soon with the first game beginning this Thursday, this is sure to be an intense matchup!
