London has announced a new rapid transit system, this system will help reduce bus ride times and will help increase traffic flow as buses will have their own dedicated lane.
William Pol, Professor of Urban Planning at Fanshawe College, said “what the bus rapid transit system is doing is making a dedicated lane for the buses, so it sort of makes the commuting time by transit, similar to what it it would be by car.”
Professor Pol also went on to mention how this bus rapid transit system will benefit students who regularly use the public transit system “what the transit system is doing is bringing the bus route right on to the campus”.
Professor Pol continues to talk about how traffic will be improved after the completion of the bus rapid transit system, “The East London Lane from Downtown to Fanshawe College is going to improve both, public transit as well as car transit.”
Construction has already started for the new plan, no definitive end date has been announced.
