The opening reception of Somethin’ Ain’t Right, the 53rd graduation class exhibition of the Fanshawe Fine Art Advanced Diploma program was held on March 29th.
Many students and professors gathered in the opening reception to appreciate their creative and diverse works together. The student’s family and friends also attended to celebrate their graduation.
Fanshawe professor and coordinator of the Fine Art program Marla Botterill said that the special thing about this exhibition is the use of space.
“I think about the space, I guess it’s probably most the import things so, you know think about how much space you have, you think about how big some other’s work is. Media, becomes are concerns we have three videos at their shows, so how are we gonna show the videos, um, like, technically, so those are probably like you know the big sort of the questions first, and then the rest sort of the questions place.”
She also said the most memorable part of preparing for this exhibition is the students. She was happy to watch the students grow up.
“The students, I watching them grow, I taught them since first year, and so they’re like they’ve changed so much, they’ve brought so much, they’ve learned so much, and try so many different things. They’re amazing, our students are the best.”
The students decided on the theme of the exhibition themselves. Fanshawe graduating student Nolan Burridge made a Cinderella’s dress at his own expense of $800.
“This is a Cinderella’s ball gown, um, it’s for with privations of Cinderella’s ball gown, using Cinderella’s age, that they use for the movie at 2015 Cinderella’s movie.”
He explained what the dress was made of, and he also said his time at the Fanshawe is a meaningful time to learn a lot.
“I’m thankful that I was done, I was very rushing in this work, thankful to my family for funding 800 dollars materials, and I’m also thankful that I was able to be in Fine Art to experience a lot, it was very meaningful time to learn here.”
The exhibition was held at TAP Centre for Creativity until April 5th.
