The Fanshawe Women’s Basketball team lost again in a challenging close game against Sheridan. The final score was 57-53. This extends the Falcons losing streak to 6 in a row. This is also yet another in a string of winnable games, but Fanshawe just could not come out on top.
The defensive side of the ball was up to the task, with three players getting ten or more rebounds. Jordan Braekevelt, Alison Cotton, and Micaela Howard continue to be the anchors on the defensive end, trying their best to limit their opponents’ scoring opportunities.
Legacie Blackbird led the team with 16 points on the offensive side of the ball. Alison Cotton also added another 14 points. Cotton has produced an effort so far this season that has seen her be the Falcon’s most well-rounded player. Fanshawe also only had 9 points from their bench. A more consistent effort on backing up the starters is needed if Fanshawe turns things around.
They will get a chance to do it as they play the mighty Niagara Knights today. The Knights are 6-1 so far this season, with their only loss coming in a close game to St. Clair. The Knights average over 60 points per game and allow just under 50. Niagara is led by Janee Harrison, who averages just over 14 points per game. Locking her down and controlling the time of possession will be vital in taking them down. This will be a very tough test for a Fanshawe team searching for success.
The game takes place in Niagara and will start tonight at 6:00 PM EST.
