Fanshawe college and Western university is starting to recognize the popularity behind Esports and both schools have recruited players and have made teams to play in certain video games. A few of the video games that the schools have made teams for are League of Legends, and Call of Duty. Fanshawe also has teams in Super Smash Bros., Rainbow Six, and more.
The new rivalry that might be brewing between the two schools are within the Call of Duty league. Both teams are in the CCL (Collegiate Call of Duty League) and as of right now Western has only has 1 Call of Duty team and Fanshawe has 2 teams within the CCL league. Fuel’s Varsity team were the one’s to face off against the Mustangs.
Fuel’s team captain Radix mentions that a player on the Western team use to play in a high challengers division. Radix believes if they can shut that player down, they can have a strong chance of winning against the Mustang’s team.
The two teams met back on Feb. 1st and Western went up 2-0 at the start in the best of 5 match. With Fanshawe regaining and rallying back with 3 straight map wins, Fuel was able win the game 3-2. As of right now both teams are sitting with 9 wins and 2 losses within the CCL standings.
