Many remember Dr. Peter Fowler as the pioneer of sports medicine in Canada and inspiration behind many students of getting involved in the sports world on the medical side. Students in the Kinesiology program at Western have seen just what Fowler did for the development of the program.
Kurram Javad is a graduate of the program and recalls learning about Fowler and what he noticed throughout his time at Western.
“When I first started in the program I didn’t think much of him but as the program progressed we started to see just what Fowler did, who he has helped and what continued to do until his death”
Javad says that Fowler has even had an impact on graduates with providing many post graduate opportunities on campus to further develop skills and good local on-job experience before going into the professional world of sports medocine.
Fowler had built a reputation through his work in Canadian sports medicine even taking care of big names such as Mark Messier, Steve Yzerman among other pro athletes
