Fanshawe College flags were lowered following preliminary findings from a survey of the grounds at a former residential school near Lebret Saskatchewan uncovering human remains in over 2,000 potential graves.

After these events, Fanshawe College is aware of the different emotions that someone could feel after the news, and even more so since Fanshawe as an institution will open its doors to the indigenous community.

For this reason, the institution is taking into account the feelings and mourning of both indigenous and non-indigenous, since they may be experiencing emotions after the tragic news that harms their education and social activities.
Fanshawe college offers support and grief counseling to students through counseling and accessibility services and staff through an employee assistance program and human resources. also the EDI team is available for students to guide them in educational resources, material, and organization, EDI@fanshaweC.ca. in additional support for students wellbeing, the indigenous counselor Daniel Kenedy has his doors open to talk about the news.
