Fanshawe ‘s MIA program hosted its “Share The Land” concert at London Music Hall. The 3 hour long concert showcased many groups and solo acts from the second year students in the program. Among the sea of second years stood out the only group of first year students known as Lavender Blue & The Boys.
“I went through police foundations to working security jobs and I was struggling finding my path and I finally found it with MIA” First year drummer Peter Leondidis says talking about his journey to finding his passion.
Peter, a 29 year old first year went through Fanshawe police foundations program wanting to become a police officer and that path never panned out the way he envisioned.
He began working security jobs after he graduated until he eventually lost interest.
Struggling to find his path he sat down with his sister and discussed MIA as he had a love for music but didn’t know if he wanted to pursue it.
He applied to Fanshawe’s MIA program and got it. He joined the band Lavender Blue & The Boys as the only first year band attending “Share The Land”.
“I was nervous of course but it went away as soon as I hit the drum and hearing the feedback from others and especially professors made the night that much better.”
The road for Peter has been a long one but he is happy that he is doing something he loves and has the passion for.
